Finishing Techniques

Metallic Glazes: Latex non-tarnished paints are used. Metallic glazes can be applied to basically any surface. The surface can be duplicated from copper, steel, iron, gold or pearls among others. The glazes can then be aged and sealed to resemble the true metals.

Common Areas Used: Ceiling Insets, wall insets, bathrooms, bedrooms, furniture, dining areas & kitchens.
Wood Graining: Oil and latex paints are used to create faux wood grain on commonly smooth surfaces. Wood stains and varnishes are used to create a realistic wood finish. There are a number of different wood grains that can be replicated (e.g. maple, oak, birch, pine and more)

Common Areas Used: Furniture, cabinets, trim work, doors, door jams and other smooth surfaces.
Formica: Plastic laminate that comes in basically any color, sheen or texture.

Common Areas used: Cabinets, furniture, counter tops, entertainment centers, bookshelves.
Sponging on & off: Using latex paints sponging includes using different complimentary colors over a base coat giving the illusion of depth and texture. Sponging with a number of different color gives the surface a rough stone look. Sponging off is using a clean sponge and removing the colored glaze from the surface.

Commonly Used Areas: Walls, bathrooms, ceilings, hallways, offices, living rooms, and most common areas.
Marbleizing: Using latex and/or oil based paints marbleizing includes a base coat with 3-4 complimentary color applied and blended together creating a deep soft effect. The clear glaze is key to this technique and is layered on over and over to create a breathtaking marble effect. Veins are also added to imitate real marble. Like wood grain, marble comes in hundreds or different colors, sheens and textures.

Commonly Used Areas: Columns, etc.
